Let Me Introduce Myself!

Hi! My name is Mike Wilhelm and I am 30 years old.

I had a relatively ‘normal’ childhood. Although my parents got divorced almost immediately after I was born, and we didn’t always have a lot of money, I can’t say that I missed out on anything or experienced very traumatic events.

Like most other people, I became increasingly self-aware as I grew older. This increased self-awareness was accompanied by both positive and negative thoughts and emotions. The problem however, was that the negative thoughts and emotions far outweighed the positive ones.

Positive feelings and emotions such as joy, pride, satisfaction, enthusiasm, and confidence were often short-lived. I noticed that these positive feelings were always triggered by a certain event or person, and as time went by, they quickly faded away.

Negative emotions such as anxiety, shame, and anger, on the other hand, tended to last far longer. In addition, these feelings would often well up from seemingly nowhere. 

Unable to deal with this, I started to feel more anxious every day.

During my time at school and university, the anxiety and the resulting lack of confidence made me do everything I could to avoid things such as public speaking and other things that would make me the center of attention.

As you might have guessed, this wasn’t always possible. As a result, there were quite a few times I messed things up pretty bad. Ofcourse, this fueled my anxious mind and in turn decreased my overall happiness and self-esteem even more.

My Vow To Change

A few years back I got so annoyed by these feelings and emotions that I vowed to change. I started researching what I could do about these negative feelings and emotions, and what I could do to actually be happy. I spent years reading books, doing online courses, doing tests, and eventually even stepping outside my comfort zone to join group meetings in order to reach my objective.

Looking back at this journey, I can say that I have completely changed my view of the world and the way I interact with it. This change has significantly increased my happiness and enabled me to rid myself of the anxiety that once ruled my life. The process of getting rid of the stuff that is holding you back in life is truly amazing. And the result is even more beautiful, a life without anxiety or a negative mind. The interesting thing is, this change can actually be attributed to a few key sources.
