Meditation<\/a> for the mind is like exercise for the body. Most of the time, the practice is done by itself, with the eyes closed and the person sitting still.<\/p>

What does the term “meditation” mean in Psychology?<\/p>

Meditation is defined in psychology as “a family of mental training methods that are meant to help the practitioner become familiar with certain kinds of mental processes”.<\/p>

Meditation can be done in one of these three ways:<\/p>

  1. Concentration<\/em> – Concentrating awareness on a single thing, either internally or externally (a.k.a. focused attention meditation)<\/li>
  2. Observation – <\/em>Focusing on whatever is most prominent in your experience right now without letting the attention become fixated on anything in particular (a.k.a. open monitoring meditation)<\/li>
  3. Awareness –<\/em>\u00a0Letting the mind stay in the present, without being distracted and without focusing or observing<\/li><\/ol>
